How to blur something in a picture on iPhone (no app needed)
Blur part of a photo, a face, or the background on iPhone in Safari. No App Store install.
iPhone Photos Markup is fine for a filled black rectangle. It does not give you a proper soft blur brush, reliable face cover, or a box over one corner of a picture. When you need to blur part of a picture, a face, or the background on iPhone without installing another app, Safari and the BlurThis editor on the same device work.
How to blur part of a picture on iPhone
- Open Safari and go to BlurThis (bookmark it once).
- Tap to choose the photo from your library, or paste if you copied it.
- Drag a box over the region to cover. Add padding past the edges.
- Zoom in. Undo if a letter or edge still reads.
- Download the PNG and share that file.

On your phone or computer
Markup fallback: Photos → Edit → Markup → filled opaque shape over the face. Not soft blur, but it works offline.

How to blur a picture on iPhone without an app
You do not need the App Store. Safari runs the same editor as desktop. The photo stays on your phone; processing happens in the browser tab. For screenshots specifically, see blur a screenshot on iPhone.
Background already in the photo

When to use Markup instead
A quick filled shape over an OTP or card number in Markup is enough when you are not posting the image publicly. For anything that leaves your phone, prefer a baked PNG from the browser tool or an opaque bar. Why highlighter fails: iPhone highlighter does not hide text.
