The service

BlurThis is a free website that lets you blur, pixelate, or cover parts of an image (a photo or a screenshot) and parts of a short video clip, then download the result. Images are saved as PNG. Video is saved as MP4 or WebM depending on what your browser can encode. Video input is limited to 50 MB. Each export is limited to 90 seconds and is scaled so the longest edge is 720 pixels. A MOV or MP4 filename does not guarantee every codec will play.

The editor runs in your browser on your own device. We do not receive, store, or view the files you open. You do not need an account, and we do not charge for the editor. We may change, pause, or stop any part of the service at any time.

Eligibility

The site is a general utility and is not directed at children. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms in your country, use the site only with a parent or guardian.

Your content

Files you open in the editor stay on your device. You keep every right you already had in them, and you grant us no licence, because nothing is transmitted to us. You are responsible for having the right to edit a file, and for what you do with the exported copy afterwards.

A redaction is only as good as the region you covered. Always open the download at full size and check it before you share it.

Acceptable use

Use the site to protect privacy in files you are allowed to edit. Do not use it to:

• alter evidence, records, or documents you are legally required to keep intact, or present an edited file as an unedited original;
• commit fraud, harass, defame, or harm another person, or conceal unlawful activity;
• probe, overload, scrape, or interfere with the site, or attempt to bypass advertising or consent controls;
• copy, resell, or rehost the site or its code as your own service.

Intellectual property

The BlurThis name, logo, design, guides, and the site’s own code belong to us. You may link to any page. You may quote short passages from our guides with a link back. You may not republish whole articles or present the tool as your own.

Face detection uses the open-source YuNet model via ONNX Runtime Web and text detection uses Tesseract.js, each under its own licence, as credited on the about page.

Third-party services and ads

The site is hosted on Vercel. Some guide and article pages show advertisements served by Google AdSense after you accept the cookie banner where consent is required. Ads are never placed on the image or video editor canvas. We do not control the content of third-party ads and are not responsible for the sites they link to. No warranty and limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. In particular, a blur or pixelation is not always irreversible: for numbers, passwords, codes, and similar secrets a solid black bar is the safer choice, and cropping is safer still.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from files you export or share, from a region you did not cover, from downtime or browser incompatibility, or from third-party advertisements. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us to use the site, which is nothing.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by email will be subject to the courts of India. If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.

Changes

If these terms change, we update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
