Pick blur or black bar
Use a black bar for short secrets: phones, emails, codes, card digits. Blur is fine for faces and messy backgrounds. Pixelate is a look, not a stronger cover than blur at the same strength.

Drag over the private bit, then download
Drag across the text or faces. Leave a little padding. Download the PNG and share that copy, not the original.
Crop the waste, then cover what you must keep
Toast at the edge of the capture? Crop it off before you paint. Email in the middle of the window you must send? Paint a black bar. What usually needs covering in support and bug snips
- Emails in a sidebar, avatar menu, or quoted reply
- One-time codes and short account numbers in banners
- Tokens in the address bar, query string, or terminal
- Names and faces of people who are not part of the ticket
- Notification banners that slid in mid-capture
- Customer IDs repeated in breadcrumbs or browser tabs
Soft blur is fine for faces and messy backgrounds. Short secrets need an opaque bar. Passwords and keys have their own landing at blur text.
Capture first, then redact, then check the export
