How to blur part of a video online (free, no upload)
Trim a clip, mark Blur In and Blur Out, place a box, and download MP4 or WebM. All in the browser on your device.
You need to hide a face, a name tag, or a license plate in a clip before you post it or send it to support. Desktop video editors are heavy. Uploading the file to a random converter is worse. A browser tab that trims, blurs one region on a timeline, and exports locally is enough for most short clips.
How to blur part of a video online (no upload)
- Open BlurThis and switch to the Video tab.
- Upload MP4, WebM, or MOV (up to 90 seconds per export and 720p). The file stays on your device.
- Drag the white trim handles to pick the segment you need.
- Scrub to where the secret appears. Press Blur In to start a timed blur and place the box over the region.
- Move or resize the box. Scrub to where the blur should end and press Blur Out.
- Choose Blur or Pixelate and strength in the sidebar. Press Download for MP4 or WebM.

Blur In and Blur Out explained
One blur region has a start time and end time on the timeline. Blur In sets the start at the playhead. Blur Out closes the segment. You can add several regions for different moments or different corners of the frame. The box stays in the same place on screen unless you move it before Blur Out.
Blur vs pixelate for video
Soft blur looks natural on faces and backgrounds. Pixelate reads more obviously as censorship and can be safer for digits you must not show at all. For support tickets with account numbers, combine a tight box with pixelate at high strength.
What this tool is not
- Not automatic face tracking across every frame — you place the box.
- Not a full NLE — no color grade, no multi-track audio mix.
- Not a cloud render — export speed depends on your device.
